I began collecting b-roll aka footage to tell a story the very next day because it was raining the day of. I am starting to understand how a story unfolds.
I spoke with local residents and found out that FAMU WAY used to be called CANAL STREET.
I never would have thought that I would be a reporter knocking on doors looking for someone to interview.
It was actually pretty fun. The individual I ended up selecting to interview, I spoke with her first.
FAMU WAY extension is suppose to extend to Lake Bradford Road. The idea is to have shops like ice cream and shopping and entertainment. It is also to have areas for green space, walking and bicycling.
I would like to see this project complete, I just may come back to Tallahassee in 2015 just to see the south side of town upgrades.
The major concerns were traffic and businesses. There are abandoned homes along the area and a vacant park I found.
The construction is set to begin in 2013 while construction on Gaines Street is wrapping up.
I had to chase down footage of bikers and ended up not even using it. I put in over 10 hours on this second package so I know it is better than the one before.
I watched a package on WJXT News for Jax and the reporter was very creative with her shots and story-telling. She encouraged me to use many angles and really involve the viewers in my package.
